A late-maturing variety. The growing season from germination to seed maturity is 90–100 days. The plant is a vine, 3–4 m long, requiring a support or planting along tall fences. The pods are wide, fleshy, stringless, 20–25 cm long, dark purple in color, and of high flavor quality. Sow seeds after the threat of night frosts has passed. Harvest the bean pods selectively, every 3–5 days. Use for soups and side dishes. After cooking, the pods change color from dark purple to green.
