Samsun 85 - a mid-season smoking tobacco variety with an average nicotine content (up to 2.1%) and high smoking qualities (strength, aroma, taste, and sweetness — 38.4 points). Recommended for cigarettes and smoking pipes. The plant quickly develops a large number of large, high-quality green leaves. The variety is resistant to root rot, downy mildew, and leaf blight. Sowing for seedlings is carried out in late March–April. Before sowing, fill the container with slightly moist soil (three parts sandy loam and one part well-rotted and sieved humus), then compact and level the surface. Seeds are evenly distributed over the surface, lightly pressed into the substrate, moistened with a spray bottle, and covered with plastic wrap. The seedlings are placed in a bright, warm location, watered via the tray, and ventilated daily (by lifting the plastic wrap for 30 minutes). Young plants are transplanted into open ground in mid- to late May at a distance of 50–70 cm. Tobacco harvesting and drying begin in mid-July. The tobacco is fermented before use.
