Full description
Porcini mushroom (Boletus edulis, bull)

A large edible mushroom of the Boletaceae family, belonging to the Basidiomycota class. Cap light to dark brown on top, white at first on the underside, then greenish-yellow. Stem thick with a light net-like pattern. Flesh white.

The white mushroom is the most valuable of all edible mushrooms in terms of nutritional value. It has about two dozen forms, differing in the color of the fruiting body and mycorrhizal association with a particular tree species. Our mycelium is intended for planting under garden trees on a home garden plot and indoors in soil fertilized with decomposed leaves and/or manure compost.

1 package of granular mycelium is designed for 2.5 m².

Loosen the soil under the tree to create a depression 5–15 cm deep, depending on the location of the roots near the soil surface.

Spread the mycelium evenly over the entire loosened surface. Cover with garden (or forest) soil mixed with any humus in equal parts.

Water using a garden watering can at a rate of 10 liters per 1 m². Sprinkle the soil that was removed when digging the hole back on top. Planting can be done at any time of year and under any tree species. Water frequently during dry periods using a garden watering can at a rate of 15–20 liters per 1 m². Mushrooms appear four times a year—twice in the spring and twice in the fall, but the first harvest will not occur sooner than 2.5 months after planting.

The first harvest yields 350–500 g/m², with subsequent harvests yielding 3.5–4.5 kg/m². The mycelium grows for many years, as long as the tree lives.

Every year during the hot or cold season (when mushrooms do not grow), evenly spread humus over the planting site at a rate of 15 kg/m².

Indoors, you can try to grow mushrooms using the same method as for button mushrooms, but the results will be significantly worse than in an open area, and the likelihood of germination is also reduced.

Amateur cultivation of mycorrhizal and other soil-dwelling mushrooms does not guarantee results, as the mushroom harvest depends heavily on weather and many other factors. Nevertheless, if you gain experience in growing mycorrhizal mushrooms and put in a fair amount of effort, you can expect decent results.

Attention! Soil acidity is a very important factor for successful mushroom cultivation. For the white mushroom, the optimal pH range is 6.5–7. Soil that is more acidic (lower pH) must be deacidified by watering with a solution of quicklime (100 g of lime per 5 L of water per 1 sq. m).
The mycelium has a shelf life of 5–7 years. Store in a dry place. The date of manufacture is indicated on the packaging.
