Detroit Beet is a mid-season variety; root maturation takes 80–105 days. The plant is of medium height. It produces round, very attractive roots with smooth, glossy skin and a small rosette of leaves, featuring a thin and very short taproot. The flesh has a tender texture and a dark red color. Root weight is 100–200 g. Very high flavor quality. Yield up to 5.5 kg/m². Transports well. A versatile variety. Stable yield and marketability, cold hardiness, resistance to bolting, uniform root size, and suitability for canning, with good storage life.
