Full description
Centaur Poly fodder beet is a mid-late, high-yielding, multi-tillering variety of Polish origin. It is drought-tolerant and undemanding regarding soil conditions. The variety is characterized by very rapid root and leaf growth and resistance to bolting, cercosporiosis, and viruses. A 60% soil penetration rate makes mechanical harvesting possible. The root furrow is shallow (minimal soil disturbance). It produces white, elongated-oval-shaped root crops. The root crops store very well until May at temperatures between 0 and 4 °C, with minimal storage losses. Seeding rate: 15–20 kg/ha. Root crop yield: 1,000–1,110 cwt/ha.

Agricultural Practices.
If the goal is to obtain an early harvest, beet seeds should be sown between April 25 and May 5. Beets are a heat-loving crop, and with such early sowing, they must be covered with plastic film. During the early stages of growth, beets are very demanding in terms of soil moisture. During growth, beet seeds also require watering, which is stopped two weeks before harvest. To produce winter crops, Centaur Poly White forage beet seeds are sown after May 10; sowing is done in furrows, to a depth of two to three centimeters. The distance between seeds is 6–8 centimeters. The plants are thinned out after about a week.
