BORSCH BEET
Early-maturing variety (80–100 days). The root is round, weighing 300–500 g, smooth, and red in color. The flesh is dark red, tender, very juicy, with distinct white-pink rings. The variety is valued for the uniformity of the roots and high amino acid content. Recommended for making borscht kvass.Agricultural Techniques
2–3 days before sowing, soak the beet seeds in water at a temperature of 20–25°C until single sprouts appear. During this time, change the water 3–4 times in the first 10–12 hours. Seeds with individual sprouts are lightly dried and planted in moist soil. When forming beds 140–150 cm wide, 3 rows of plants can be placed on each bed, spaced 30–35 cm apart. Seeds are placed 4–6 cm apart. Plant care consists of loosening the soil, weeding, and thinning, leaving 10 to 15 plants per meter of row (depending on soil fertility). Beets are watered only during prolonged dry spells.
