Long Red Carrot (Heartless) – a mid-late, high-yielding variety. 120–150 days from first emergence to market maturity. The root vegetable is up to 25 cm long, cylindrical with a blunt tip, weighing 180–220 g. The surface is smooth, bright red-orange in color; the flesh is bright, crisp, firm, tender, and rich in carotene. It has excellent flavor. The roots contain vitamins B, B2, PP, C, E, and K and possess medicinal properties: they increase hemoglobin levels and the body’s resistance to disease. The variety is resistant to drought and disease. The variety has excellent root storage life. It is suitable for fresh consumption, processing, and long-term winter storage.
The optimal time for harvesting is when the top of the root reaches 3.5–5 cm in diameter and the root itself is 16–20 cm long. It is advisable to sow seeds sparsely or to thin them out after emergence.
