The Klondike watermelon is a mid-season sweet variety characterized by long shelf life, lasting 2–2.5 months after harvest. The plant has vigorous growth and long vines. The leaves are large and green. The fruit is oval-cylindrical, with an average marketable fruit weight of 12–13 kg. The rind is light green with dark green longitudinal stripes. The flesh is dark red, grainy, and very sweet.
To ensure a reliable harvest in regions with temperate and cool climates, the seedling method of cultivation is used. Seeds are sown in pots with potting mix, 10 cm in diameter. By the time the seedlings are transplanted, the soil temperature in the plastic-covered greenhouse should reach 14–16°C, and the plants should be 30–35 days old with 3–4 true leaves. During the growing season, regular watering is required, as well as 2–3 applications of a complex mineral fertilizer. Fruit set per plant should be limited to 1–2 fruits; non-fruiting shoots should be removed.
