Batuon Onion - a mid-season, cold-hardy variety of green onion. A perennial plant. Valued for its high vitamin C content. Grows quickly in early spring and produces early greens (especially under plastic covers). Requires well-prepared and fertilized soil. It is winter-hardy and can be grown anywhere. It is cultivated both as an annual and a perennial crop. It can grow in one place for up to 5 years. When grown as a perennial, two or three harvests of green leaves are produced over the summer, which are used for food. For annual cultivation, seeds are sown in two stages: in early spring—to harvest in July—and in the first half of summer—to harvest green tops in early May of the following year.
