Slow-Growth Lawn Seed Mix

A seed mix of low-growing and slow-growing grasses. Requires no special care and is suitable for poor soils.

Sow the seed mix at a rate of 3 kg per 100 square meters. The seeding rate can be reduced to 2.5 kg per 100 square meters on light sandy and sandy loam soils, while on heavy chernozem and loamy soils, it is advisable to increase it to 3.5 kg per 100 square meters. If the seeding rates are not followed, seedlings will be sparse, and the grass may be overgrown by weeds. If sown at a rate significantly higher than the specified rate, the plants may be severely stunted due to insufficient nutrient uptake from the soil.

Composition:
Perennial ryegrass -35%
Perennial ryegrass -20%
Red fescue -20%
Reed fescue -5%
Annual ryegrass -20%

Site preparation before sowing:
- The optimal time for sowing is from early spring to mid-fall.
- Remove debris, weeds, and stones from the site.
- Dig the soil to a depth of 15–20 cm and carefully level the surface with a rake.
- To prevent the soil from being too loose, tamp it down or compact it with a roller.

Sowing:
- Distribute the seeds evenly across the entire area (seeding rate: 1 kg per 30 m²).
- It is recommended to sow only in a crisscross pattern: the first half of the seeds in one direction, and the second half crisscrossing the first.
- To cover the seeds with soil to a depth of 0.5–1 cm, level the sown area with a rake.
- It is best to roll the seeded area with a ribbed roller.
- For better germination, constant sprinkler irrigation is required (3–4 weeks)

Care:
- The first mowing of the tips is performed when the grass reaches 10 cm.
- For fall sowing, the first mowing is performed in the spring.

Further care:
- Regular mowing is required (can be done to the desired height).
- Water using a sprinkler system (on hot days, it is advisable to water twice, avoiding the formation of puddles; on normal days, water in the morning or evening).

- Fertilize with high-nitrogen fertilizers (once in the spring and once in mid-summer—high-nitrogen fertilizers; once in the fall—low in potassium and phosphorus).
