Tyson F1 — a new mid-season sweet corn hybrid from Syngenta (Netherlands). The growing season is 80–81 days. Tyson F1 corn forms a plant 2.3 m tall, which suppresses weed growth. Mature ears are 22 cm long with 20–22 rows of bright yellow kernels, each 12–13 mm deep. The kernels are distinguished by their super-sweet taste and high fiber content. This corn is recommended for processing and sale in the fresh produce market.

Cultivation characteristics

The Tyson F1 corn hybrid can be grown using both the transplanted and direct-seeding methods. When direct-seeding the seeds into the soil, it is advisable to carry out sowing from mid-April to the end of the second ten-day period of May, when the soil at a depth of 8 cm has warmed to at least 10 °C. The seeding depth is 4–6 cm. The optimal row spacing is 60–70 cm. Propagating corn via seedlings allows for a harvest several weeks earlier than when growing this crop using the direct-seeding method. Seeds should be sown for seedlings in early April, placing the containers with the seedlings under plastic cover, where the air temperature is maintained between 18–25 °C. After seedlings emerge, corn care should include thinning the plants, removing weeds, watering, and applying phosphorus-potassium fertilizers.
