Full description
Coragen, 1.2 ml, DuPont - an innovative insecticide against lepidopteran pests on apple trees and tomatoes, and the Colorado potato beetle on potatoes; pests resistant to other pesticides do not develop resistance to this product.

Corn: corn stalk borer, cotton bollworm

Apple trees: codling moth, apple moths and leaf rollers, California scale (migratory larval stage): biological efficacy up to 80%

Potatoes: Colorado potato beetle (adults and larvae), potato moth

Tomatoes: cotton and other types of moths, Colorado potato beetle.

Mode of action:
The product’s primary action occurs when it enters the insect’s stomach, as well as through the cuticle (contact action). Coragen activates ryanodine receptor genes, which play a key role in muscle contraction. After ingesting Coragen, the release of internal calcium stores from the pest’s muscles is activated (the receptor causes the receptor channel to remain open for a longer period of time). The uncontrolled release of calcium ions sharply reduces its internal stores in the body. As a result, the pest loses the ability to contract its muscles, and paralysis sets in instantly. In turn, this leads to a cessation of feeding; the larvae become weak and soon die.

In addition to its high biological activity, the product has a long residual effect (up to three weeks). Thanks to its rapid translaminar action, it is highly resistant to wash-off by precipitation.

The ovicidal and larvicidal effects depend on the timing of the application. Maximum efficacy is observed when the product is applied at the onset of egg laying or to laid egg clusters. Instantaneous intoxication of the larva as it hatches from the eggshell accounts for the larvicidal effect.

Once inside the insect’s body, the following symptoms of poisoning are observed:

  • Immediate cessation of feeding
  • Muscle paralysis
  • Death within 24–72 hours

Its novel mode of action makes Coragen an excellent partner in anti-resistance protection programs and integrated pest management programs. One of the product’s advantages is its extremely low application rate.

Coragen belongs to the class of anthranilamides.
